Alaska Crafts

One of our neighbors is an Alaskan native and this afternoon she brought over this beautiful little basket to show me. She hand made this out of colored grasses and seal guts. She decorated this one with birds.

This sells for $70. She sells them around town and also sends some down to Skagway where they sell to the tourists coming off the cruise ships.

The seal guts are the green around the edge. They are dried and dyed and then dried and dyed again and woven in with the grass. Pretty amazing!
